About me

My name is Elizabeth and I aim to offer a space to clients that is supportive, non-judgemental, and confidential and where clients can feel at ease to share the issues they are struggling with, encouraging them not to feel “different” or “odd” or that “something is wrong with them”, but to realise that struggling at times is all part of being human.

I appreciate that as part of those struggles, we cannot always resolve things on our own and we may benefit from having someone to walk alongside us and to support us in finding optimism and a path back to a happier place and who we really are.

I aim to offer that space.

While therapy is a tool for dealing with struggles, I also believe that therapy is a great space for personal development and simply getting to know oneself better and improving our relationships with others.

I trained as a Transpersonal Psychotherapist which means that as well as an integrative approach to therapy (drawing upon different skills and techniques such as Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential, and Cognitive Behavioural), it also involves a holistic considering aspects of the mind, body and soul and looking at someone as a whole.  However, I tailor my practice to the needs and wishes of the client, but I  enjoy using dreamwork as it is often a more direct route into the subconscious.

I also trained as a lawyer and understand the pressures of working in a demanding environment where perfection is often expected.  I believe that my legal training helps me to provide a grounded and contained therapeutic space.

I am based in Clapham, West London at the Awareness Centre on Abbeville Road.  However, I can also offer sessions online.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
