About me
Counsellor in Liverpool – Helping You Boost You Self-Esteem and Manage Anxiety
Counselling available in British Sign Language (BSL)
Do you struggle with low self-esteem or confidence? Are there times in your life when you feel anxious and you’re not quite sure why?
To some, living a life where you feel confident and secure in who you are sounds pretty simple, but it doesn’t always work like that unfortunately. Our up-bringing, traumatic experiences and other adversities faced in life can massively impact how you feel about yourself.
When you’re not feeling yourself, or you’ve lost touch with who you really are, life can feel daunting and lonely. You may start to people-please just to feel closer to those around you – but this can be harmful to your self-esteem in the long run.
The longer this goes on, the more you may lose touch with yourself, your wants and needs – all contributing to more anxiety.
But life doesn’t have to be this way.
I help people to work on their self-esteem and to live a more fulfilled life.
Throughout my life, there have been many times where I have abandoned myself and didn’t have the confidence to speak my truth. I didn’t know that my anxiety was linked to my lack of self-esteem, and one day I thought “this has to stop”. And that was when my personal development journey began.
About Counselling:
There are many reasons people come to counselling – you might feel like anxiety is taking over, lack of self-confidence, or struggling with a life-changing circumstance such as relationship difficulties or a bereavement.
When we work together, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself by exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Whether you're wanting to explore a particular experience or looking to improve your overall wellbeing, I am confident our work together will achieve this.
My purpose is to enable you to feel heard, understood and empowered to live your most fulfilled life. We will work collaboratively to support you in getting from where you are now, to where you want to be.
Don’t hesitate to contact me – I look forward to working with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work from a humanistic / person-centred orientation and, depending on your needs and wishes, I will integrate mindfulness, cognitive behavioural techniques and breathwork into our work together.
I hold a Masters degree in counselling, am BACP-registered and I work with adults both privately and in mental health settings - I currently work for a well-known children’s Hospice and have worked for a domestic abuse service.
I have several years’ experience of using BSL in family contexts and I hold a Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) and am working towards Level 6.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
