About me

I am a Counselling Psychologist available privately to work with a range of difficulties like anxiety, depression and low self-esteem mainly using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I can also provide psychological assessments and supervision to counsellors and psychologists.

I am keen to help people improve their quality of life through therapy, so they are not troubled and restricted by worries or low mood. With both an empathic nature and years of experience I believe I can enable people to understand their difficulties quickly and break negative patterns that might be holding them back. CBT is an active, goal focused therapy with strong evidence of success.

I draw on 20 years NHS experience and now moved to private practice to offer a high standard of psychological interventions with the immediacy and flexibility working independently can provide. In addition to CBT, I have training in humanistic counselling and family therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working in private practice since 2018 whilst simultaneously supervising trainee CBT therapists for Royal Holloway, University of London.

In the NHS I have led a large, primary care, talking therapies service for anxiety and depression. Before that, I worked with people with complex and enduring mental health problems and have led a mental health service for adults with learning disabilities.

I am Chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS), registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
