About me
I am a humanistic therapist and use an emotional and somatic approach to help my clients solve their psychological problems, through recognising and letting go of patterns of inhibition, resistance and acting out, and discovering the potential to be more fully themselves.
These patterns can often be confusing and distressing and may present as anxiety, overwhelm, pressure, frustration, depression, feeling stuck, bored, numb or a yearning for something.
Therapy provides a unique environment to explore what’s going on and if needed find a different way. It’s a relationship, a place and a space where you can take the time to hear your own voice, label and grow awareness of the layers in your experience, experiment with new behaviours, grow new skills, self-esteem, resilience and confidence.
How I Work
Underpinning many restricting patterns of behaviour are beliefs, ideas, judgements and stories about ourselves. Trust and warmth are essential qualities that I bring when working with clients as it enables us to go deep into the work, beyond the story and into the experience. My style of working is active and engaging and I will challenge where I think it’s supportive to the client’s needs. I have many years of experience working with different therapeutic models which include Gestalt, CBT, Existential and Somatic (Formative) therapy.
Working somatically means that we look at how restrictive patterns take shape in the body. For example, if a client is discussing a challenging relationship, they may feel anxious, their body might tense up, their shoulders might lift, and their breathing might become shallow. This rigidity is the body's way of bracing against a perceived threat, even if the person isn't consciously aware of it. Working somatically means bringing awareness to the rigid shape, and exploring small movements to release the rigidity, allow the emotions that lie beneath (for example anger or fear) and develop self-regulation.
About Me
I’m a therapist, actor and musician, and I'm passionate about maintaining a creative practice. I am also a husband and a parent. In my earlier years I have worked in a variety of roles in TV, marketing and web design, full time and freelance, and I feel particularly attuned to the modern day challenges of juggling work, family, creativity and business.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
