About me

Hello, If you`re reading this then I appreciate that this process alone is scary, especially if you are suffering from low self esteem, anxiety or even if you are just unsure of your thoughts and feelings.

You should feel reassured that this is the first step in understanding and gaining insight into the issues that you may be experiencing. Whatever your reason is for seeking support, I would be honoured to be part of your journey in self-development, awareness and emotional healing.

I offer long term or short term therapy to adults. Having had experience working with a diverse range of clients dealing with bereavement, domestic violence, anxiety and addiction, I understand that you and the issues that you face are unique. Together we will explore past events and future worries that may be affecting your present life. I work with my clients to prepare them with the confidence and mentality they need to live a functional life without the weight of past traumas or troubles holding them back.

My name is Denise and I am a qualified person centred counsellor with a humanistic approach. I offer a safe, non-judgmental and empathic safe space for trust to begin. The therapy is focused wholly on you and your needs and it may involve mask work, button therapy or the use of Russian dolls. Whatever the technique I will be by your side accompanying you on your journey. When you are ready to begin your journey please contact me by phone, text or e-mail and I will arrange an appointment with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Counselling.

I have done volunteer work at the Women's Refuge with in-house training around domestic violence, and I have also been a Volunteer Counsellor at Sure Start South West Children's Centre for many years.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
