About me

As an integrative counsellor, I work collaboratively with adults across a range of issues using different approaches to suit their personality and individual needs. I offer confidential long term (12+) or short term (up to 6) in person and online counselling sessions via Zoom.

In a non-judgemental, empathetic and reflective environment we can explore any feelings, thoughts or behaviours you are struggling with to help you grow in self-understanding and move towards the changes you want.

I feature Cognitive and behavioural, psychodynamic and creative therapies in my therapeutic approach.

Being a Christian counsellor I also work with issues of faith and can integrate your faith belief within your therapy irrespective of domination.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Bsc Psychology
  • Level 4 Certificate in Counselling
  • Diploma in Integrative Counselling

I am committed to attending regular training to develop myself both personally and professionally.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

Further information

The most important thing I want for you in a session, is to feel comfortable, heard and understood and in using the person centred approach I will aim to provide a warm and safe space for us to journey together in.

Dependent upon the issues you wish to explore I may use Cognitive Behavioural techniques if there are thoughts and feelings which you are finding challenging and difficult to manage but want to understand or change.

You may wish to explore experiences from your past which still affect you in the present.  I may use psychodynamic techniques to delve a little deeper to support you to gain the skills and ability to help you work towards moving forward  if this is what your goal is.

At times it is difficult to express how and what you are feeling and this is where creative techniques can be useful in providing another means of recognising, articulating and expressing what is sometimes difficult to put into words,

Being an integrative counsellor I will adapt and change my approach to meet your needs.  No one size fits all, therefore I will treat you as the unique individual you are, exploring what may work best for you and help you work towards achieving the outcomes you want.

I will review our progress at intervals during your therapy, seeking your feedback to ensure that your sessions and my approach is working for you. I consider it a privilege to journey alongside you at what is often a painful, sensitive and challenging time in your life.
