About me

Life is often unpredictable and challenging for us all, sometimes becoming overwhelming and difficult to navigate through. Looking for a counsellor that ‘fits’ and can provide the space you need is an extremely daunting task in itself. However, finding the right one for you can be a turning point and enable you to see some light.

I am a practising relational counsellor, primarily based in LS22 and LS15/LS14. I am committed to providing you with a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where we can work in collaboration to help you understand and overcome the barriers you face.

Prior to counselling I have many years experience supporting people with learning disabilities such as Autism and Downs syndrome but also their families. I have experience of working with mental issues from BPD, Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. I also have experience working with a multitude of issues from anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement to eating disorders, PTSD and trauma.

I believe the key to effective collaboration in counselling is a trusting relationship. From that I employ an integrative way of working that is very focused on what works best for you. I work from the heart offering a very personal service tailor making each session for you. I have experience using CBT,  Gestalt, Psychodynamic, TA techniques in a creative and diverse approach.

I currently hold a position as a CYP counsellor within a different organisation, working in schools with 5-16yr olds. Therefore I have much relevant experience to work with children and young people.

If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I participate in regular CPD as part of my development and in line with BACP ethic s and guidelines.

I am also a member of the Creative Counsellors. Through this I have trained in using sandtrays, arts and crafts, mandalas, symbols, picture cards and play in the therapeutic work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
