About me

Firstly, before I talk about me, it’s important for you to know, that the fact that you are here looking for a counsellor is a great step and one that you should be proud of!

My name is Danielle and I am a fully qualified counsellor with an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Since graduating over two years ago I have worked with clients with a wide range of presenting issues from diverse backgrounds. I have worked in both short term and longer-term therapy and for me the most enjoyable part of my job is connecting with others, understanding people and the feeling I get when my client knows they have been understood and heard.

I am a person with a visual impairment which allows me to create a level of mutual understanding and experience when working with clients who are disabled. It also allows me draw on my own personal experience whilst remaining in your frame of reference.

I was a first-generation student from the east end of Glasgow. It’s really important to me that therapy is accessible for all, and for this reason I offer concessionary rates for people with low income and students.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Some people come to counselling with a good idea of the things they would like to work on, others come because they have noticed a shift within themselves and just know they need support.

As your counsellor, I will meet you exactly where you are at.

As a person centred counsellor my goal is to ensure that you feel heard, understood and supported as you show me the world through your perspective.

Together we can build a genuine therapeutic relationship based on trust and free from judgement, a relationship in which we can explore what is going on for you and work towards healing and personal growth.

It is an open space in which you can bring what you need.

I tailor my ways of working based on the needs of my clients, so whether you are looking for structured sessions in which to focus on your goals or whether you just need a safe space for you, I can provide this with empathy and compassion.

If you have any questions or would like to book a consultation, please email me.
