About me

Who am I?

Hi! I’m Corinna and my journey as a counsellor began in 2018 when I realised how much I enjoy helping people to heal, grow and overcome the challenges they’re facing. The deeper I went into my training, the more I realised that counselling was the career for me, so I left my job in education. I set-up in private practice because I wanted to provide a counselling service that feels down-to-earth, approachable and relatable.

Over the years, I’ve provided counselling in various settings, including with survivors of domestic abuse, for an LGBTQ+ counselling service and with adults in Greater Manchester who are experiencing all different kinds of issues. I’ve learned from every client I’ve worked with and I’m grateful to have worked with a wide range of people.

How can I help you?

Looking for a counsellor on a site like this can be quite daunting – I fully understand that, as I’ve done it myself! Clients have often told me that, whilst reaching out for help was difficult, they’re really glad they did it.

Maybe you’re feeling a bit low at the moment, like you’ve lost your way. Perhaps you’re going through a process of change and it all feels a bit overwhelming. Maybe you’re feeling anxious but you’re not sure why - or you’d like to be kinder to yourself, yet you don’t know how.

I’ve worked with people facing all different kinds of challenges. To name just a few:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Loss
  • Relationship issues
  • Family issues
  • Low self-esteem and low self-confidence

I often work with clients in their 20s/30s and LGBTQ+ people, though I enjoy working with adults from all different age groups and ways of life. Every client is unique, so I’ll always tailor my approach to make your sessions work best for you.

How do I work?

Clients have described me as compassionate, calm and supportive. I care hugely about the clients I work with and, especially in these isolated times, I think it’s the relationship we build together that makes the biggest difference in therapy. Sometimes we all need a safe space where we can heal our wounds, speak openly about what’s going on for us and be supported through difficult times, without worrying that we’ll be judged or shamed.

I’ll work with you to come to a deeper understanding of the challenges or difficulties you’re experiencing. We’ll identify new perspectives or approaches that can help you move forwards and which will empower you to make positive changes in your life.

I think counselling works best when there's a good balance of support and challenge, so this is something I'll always try to offer you.

Testimonials

These are some of the things clients have said about working with me:

  • “I chose therapy as I was going through a lot of difficulties in my life that seemed to happen all in a short time and thought I had nowhere to turn. I felt I’d lost myself and therapy was best decision I could have made.”
  • “Corinna was the perfect mix of caring and professional which allowed me to relax and talk openly and honestly about everything. The care, effort and guidance offered to me is something that will stay with me forever. Thank you, I will always be grateful for the care and compassion shown to me.”
  • “I was very apprehensive to attend counselling due to feeling too proud to need help but after starting my sessions with Corinna, to help battle a fear after a traumatic experience, I realised that this is something I have needed for a long time. Corinna named herself as my ‘own personal cheerleader’ and after a few sessions, I saw a change within myself.”
  • “Using different techniques and the knowledge of why I am experiencing certain emotions I have been able to tackle my fears and not let them affect my life as I previously did. Working with Corinna has given me the strength and confidence to feel that I can tackle any challenge head on. Everyone from my family to my colleagues have noticed a positive change within myself and I will be forever grateful to Corinna for her help and supportive encouragement.”
  • "Corinna is a skilled, compassionate, calm and wise therapist. She listens carefully, shows a good understanding of any issues and uses a rational approach which is very calming and effective."

What next?

If you think I could be a good fit for you, I’d love to hear from you - send me an email or a text and let me know when you're available for a free 30 minute chat, so we can get to know each other and you can see if you'd like to work with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
