About me

Hello and a warm welcome to my page, my name is Clare. I'm a fully qualified counsellor and I provide a safe, non judgmental and supportive place for you to explore what ever you may be facing.

Throughout life we will go through challenges that impact us in some way, whether that be loss, stress, anxiety, low self esteem, or trauma.  I believe that people heal best when they have access to a space where they are seen, heard, and able to be their authentic selves.

As a counsellor, I will listen to you and will meet you where your at and we can go at your pace. I offer warmth and compassion whilst being beside you on your journey and through exploration together we can make sense of your thoughts and feelings.

The past few years I have helped many people from all walks of life,  I have supported people working in the NHS and the forces.  More recently, I am working part of a project providing counselling to asylum seekers and working in private practice.

Counselling can help you gain insight and discover or rediscover your own internal strengths to make positive life choices. I believe therapy is collaborative and we will work together on where you want to get to.  The relationship between myself and my clients is one of the most important parts of the therapeutic process and I would love to talk with you more about how I can support you.  Its important that you choose the right counsellor for you and I offer a free 20 minute consultation via telephone to answer any questions you may have and for you to decide if you would like to work with me.  Please call me or click the email button to send me an e-mail.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I now offer walk & talk therapy.

Walk and Talk has a number of benefits:

·   Walking and talking side by side can be less intimating and doesn’t require as much eye contact which can help you to feel more comfortable.

·   It’s naturally healing and grounding to be outside.

·   It’s healthy because walking improves mood and reduces stress, helping you to sleep better and have more energy.

·  Walking outside increases creative and deeper ways of thinking giving you more space to process problems rather than get trapped in negative thought spirals.

·  It’s  relaxing and soothing to be outside and this can help calm emotions.

·  Movement can help you open up more and conversation can flow more easily.

·  It’s beneficial to clients of all ages and you can set the pace - whatever you feel comfortable with.
