About me

As an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer comprehensive support and understanding to individuals and couples alike. At the heart of my practice is a compassionate, confidential environment where your innermost thoughts and emotions can be expressed and explored in a safe and confidential space.

My expertise lies in offering a non-judgmental ear and imparting new insights into your experiences, fostering understanding and personal growth.

My private practice is located within the serene Ransom Wood Park, which is set in acres of woodland on the outskirts of Mansfield. There is plenty of free parking and a café restaurant on site.  My practice is a haven for those looking for tranquillity and respite.

During times of change, both in our own lives and in the wider world, stress can mount, influencing our personal wellbeing and the harmony in our relationships. The strain of financial concerns is a common burden, often manifesting as anxiety, low mood, or discord between partners. As a warm, approachable counsellor, I provide a welcoming space to help individuals and couples navigate these and other challenges, fostering resilience and a path forward together.

 🔘 What to expect

Beginning counselling can often feel like a significant step on your journey to wellbeing, whether you’re taking this path as an individual or alongside your partner. It’s completely normal to have questions about what this initial session will involve. I want to assure you that my primary goal is to make you feel welcomed, reassured, and comfortable from the moment you reach out.

🔘 For the Individual: A Personalised Welcome

As an individual entering counselling, your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. This is a time for you to share, in your own words and at your own pace, what brings you to counselling. My role is to listen attentively, without judgement, and to provide a warm, supportive space where you can feel secure in expressing your thoughts and emotions.

We’ll talk about what you hope to achieve through counselling, and I’ll explain how we can work together to address your concerns. It’s also the perfect time for you to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process. Together, we will outline a preliminary plan that honours your individual needs and goals.

🔘 For Couples: A Joint Journey of Discovery

When counselling couples, the first session is designed to nurture a sense of mutual understanding and cooperation. Both partners will have the chance to voice their perspectives, hopes, and apprehensions. It’s important that each of you feels heard and that the counselling room becomes a neutral ground where you both can speak freely and honestly.

We will explore the strengths of your partnership and the challenges you face, with the aim of identifying patterns that may be contributing to difficulties. I will guide you through this process with empathy and support, helping to foster open communication between you and your partner.

🔘 A Foundation of Trust and Comfort

For all clients, individuals, or couples, the initial session lays the foundation of our therapeutic relationship. It’s important to me that you leave this first meeting feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the journey ahead.

You’ll find that my approach is personable and down-to-earth. I don’t just hear you; I truly listen, aiming to understand not just the words you say but the feelings and experiences behind them. It is my commitment to you to create an environment where you feel valued and validated.

 🔘 A Step Forward

As you take this step forward, remember that counselling is a process, and it starts with a single, supportive conversation. In this space, every emotion is welcome, and every story matters.

🔘 Clinical supervision, Including Online and Telephone Working

In addition to my practice, I also offer supervision.  As a placement supervisor, I provide a compassionate space, either online or in person.  My own practice has grown through meaningful connections with supervisees, whether they’re just beginning or have years of experience behind them. My approach to supervision is to put you at the centre, adapting to what you need, because one size doesn't fit all. If you're considering supervision and wondering if we'd be a good fit, let’s start with a chat. I’m here to answer your questions or to arrange a no-pressure introductory session.

Counselling need not be an extensive commitment; sometimes, a few sessions are all that's needed to begin the process of change. Availability is flexible, with no lengthy waits for appointments, and sessions can be conducted via phone, online, or in-person in a welcoming, tranquil environment surrounded by nature.

The first step can be the hardest. Contact me for an initial, confidential chat. When you’re ready, you can reach me by calling 07396 715789 or by emailing to arrange your appointment.

Further information

We all have times in our lives that challenge us. It might be happening to you right now. It may be things that have happened to you in the past that continue to affect your quality of life. It can be a very difficult decision to come for counselling. You may have asked yourselves lots of questions before getting to this stage.

You may be in a relationship as part of a couple that doesn't feel quite right or has changed over time, meaning that you are questioning how it can be improved. You would like to reconnect, but you don't know how.

It is very important that you feel comfortable and safe and that you trust the counsellor you choose. It really does help to have someone you can talk to in a completely confidential way. I won't judge you; I will listen, allow you the space to make sense of your worries, and help you find inner calm.

My therapeutic approach is ethical and professional, according to the BACP Ethical Framework. I have full indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS.

I am currently offering low cost supervision whilst I gain my hours towards full completion of my supervisory training. My fee rate during this time will be £35 per hour. Open to students, trainees and qualified counsellors
