About me
Hi there, I'm Catherine, a fully qualified counsellor registered with the BACP. In my work I seek to provide a safe and non-judgemental space where my clients feel they bring their full selves to explore whatever life challenges they may be facing.
Whilst specialising in trauma I work with a variety of different clients with challenges ranging from low self-esteem, ADHD, depression and anxiety to sexual abuse and childhood trauma. Since everyone and our experiences are unique I believe there is no one way to work with my clients. Instead I take an integrative approach using a number of different counselling tools and techniques that I feel will work best with whatever you bring to our sessions together.
Using this approach we work together focussing on what you would like to bring to therapy each week, surfacing any past experiences and patterns of relating that may be causing or adding to the challenges you are facing today. The work together is centred whole-heartedly on you and your needs since no two situations or experience of them are ever the same.
If you feel I would be able to help you and want to understand a bit more then please drop me an email or call to arrange an initial 30 minute introduction session. If we agree we are a good fit we will organised our first counselling session, dates and times that work.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a fully qualified therapist having completed my level 4 diploma with the CPTA after 4 years of studying, with three years now in private practice. I am registered with both the BACP and the NCPS.
Outside of my private practice, I work with a charity who specialise in supporting young adults who have experienced trauma and continue to build new skills to support my practice in this area and beyond.
I am also a counselling tutor registered with the CPCAB, training others to become counsellors.
I am currently training in yoga therapy and often integrate the breathing and relaxation techniques into my practice in order to promote a sense of calm and wellbeing and help my clients reconnect.
Beyond my counselling practice I have of 20 years in the corporate world coaching and developing both individuals and teams through organisational transformation and change. Through that work I have gained a deep appreciation of the impact of change at work and the impact redundancy and retraining (Including my own) has on our lives and sense of self.
Together with my own personal journey this experience has led to a deep appreciation of the many ups and downs that can challenge us on our and that can sometimes block us from living to our full potential.
In my work I draw on all of these experiences, along with a passion for helping others to realise their full potential, to support my clients in their own journeys in becoming closer to and more confident in themselves so they can live full lives, doing what matters most to them.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
