About me

Hello, my name is Caryl, welcome to my page.

The counselling you will experience with me is linked with my own broad life experiences, skills and knowledge which help me to understand, appreciate and empathise with the people I work with.

We are all unique in how we experience life, based on our cultural backgrounds. These experiences can influence our internal and external worlds. I work using a multicultural framework to both acknowledge and celebrate these differences.

What I offer

As a Person Centred counsellor, I will work with you to create a safe environment in which you can explore your difficulties, at your pace. This can be online or telephone.

My professional experience has concentrated particularly in issues surrounding sexual abuse and domestic violence; however, I also work in many other areas such as depression, stress/anxiety, low self-esteem or confidence which are often a consequence of this. Our confidence and esteem can be affected by how we view ourselves in our world and for some, past experiences may have negatively impacted this.

How I can help you

I know it takes courage to seek counselling or support. I offer a genuine, warm, empathetic and respectful environment to support that courage and nurture the strength that it took to make the first step towards growth.

I believe everyone has the capacity to grow, regardless of the obstacles we have or are facing. Sometimes, though, we need support to make this happen.

Some of my clients have found that our work together has enabled them to regain their voice, body, power and sense of self so that they are comfortable just being themselves.

I hope you will feel that I am the person who can help you resolve the difficulties you are encountering, past or current.

Whatever your goal, by reading this and reaching out, you have taken the first step.

Professional

I am a Registered Counsellor of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP), which is committed to providing a service as set out within its ethical framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
