About me

Hi, I am Carlie.

I am a fully accredited and UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and CNHC Registered Hypnotherapist based in Cheshire.

I know that sometimes when you are looking for a therapist it can be difficult to articulate exactly what the issue is. Sometimes it can feel frustrating because you know exactly what you want but you find yourself being held back by overwhelming feelings, unhelpful patterns of thinking or repeating patterns of behaviour.

My approach to therapy starts with you; understanding where you are in your life, where you have been and where you wish to be. I offer a warm, safe and compassionate environment in which to understand and work through those things that you are struggling with, whilst also taking a pragmatic and solution focused approach to our work to help you to get to where you want to be.

Understanding your thoughts, feelings and responses can have such a profound impact on your relationship with yourself and others, opening up the choices you feel are available to you in your life.

At the heart of my approach is a safe relationship, where your unique qualities will be held as central to the process. I don't believe that people fit into boxes, nor that one type of therapy fits all. I have training in a wide variety of approaches and I work collaboratively with you to combine these approaches to ensure your therapy is adapted to your individual needs.

I see therapy as a three step process.

  1. Listening, hearing and developing a collaborative understanding of your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and your experiences.
  2. Working with this understanding to develop a plan to help you to get from where you are to where you want to be.
  3. Putting that plan into action and being there to support you every step of the way.

I look forward to working with you.
