About me

How can I help you?

Hi, I'm Caitlin. Individually or as part of a couple we all go through times in our life where we may struggle or find things difficult. I support people seeking therapy for many reasons – difficulties in relationships (romantic, familial, friendships), anxiety, depression, recovering from trauma, loss and bereavement.

Whether your difficulties stem from what's happening now, or from past experiences, I hope we can work together to help you understand yourself better. This could be through exploring patterns of behaviour, responses to emotional situations or ways of being in relationships.

Whether you’re struggling in relationships, or feeling anxious, upset, low or overwhelmed by negative thoughts, or maybe you are just feeling stuck. Talking openly about how you are feeling is very powerful, it can help to ease and reduce troubling thoughts.

How counselling can help:

Working together, I hope that my clients will leave therapy:

  • Feeling much more connected to themselves and their feelings, and able to rebuild their emotional strength
  • Understanding themselves and the way they behave better
  • Feeling able to improve their relationships and interactions with others
  • Using awareness and insight into themselves to cope better with situations and emotional demands
  • Feeling more positive and confident, feeling more able to make the changes in their lives and relationships that they might desire and to find ways to live richer, fuller lives

I work relationally, using a range of therapeutic models, rooted in the belief that we all possess the capacity for growth, and that insight and self-awareness are the starting points for positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist specialising in:

  • working with anxiety, loss, relationship issues, depression and issues relating to self-worth and self-esteem.
  • working with couples or those in intimate partnerships to recognise and change unhelpful dynamics. Focusing on improving communication, developing understanding, and providing tools for more productive interactions.
  • working with clients who feel disconnected or fearful of their emotions, or find it hard to regulate them, including feelings of anger or rejection
  • working with people who experience negative or destructive thought patterns.

I work with couples and individuals, young people and adults. I work in my own private therapy practice, and I am also a founder member of the London Therapy Alliance: https://www.londontherapyalliance.com/

I have over 15 years of experience supporting people to explore their personal, professional and emotional lives, initially as a coach and mentor in the Arts Sector, then through suicide prevention support, and now as a therapist.

I am registered with the BACP, holding an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Therapy (BACP accredited course), and a Practitioner’s Certificate in Intimate Partner Therapy (COSRT accredited course). I have offered therapy to clients through the following counselling services: Women and Health, CPPD Low Cost Counselling and CCIWBS, a London based bereavement service. I have an Enhanced DBS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I work with individuals and couples, and with adults and young people.

Therapy can sometimes be challenging. Reconnecting with feelings, experiences or memories we may have been avoiding, or not thought about for a while can be difficult and upsetting. With a focus on compassion, acceptance and understanding, I aim to offer a safe and caring space where people’s unique lived experiences are respected; somewhere to talk freely and openly.

For individuals: therapy provides a space for personal growth and transformation. It helps you explore how your past influences your present and equips you with new strategies to move forward. The goal is to support you in overcoming challenges and building the life and relationships you desire.

For couples and intimate partners: therapy can help you recognise and change unhelpful dynamics. The work often focuses on improving communication, developing understanding, and providing tools for more productive interactions. The aim is to strengthen relationships by addressing issues from all sides.

What to expect in your first session:

I'm client led, working integratively so I can tailor my approach to the individual needs of each client or couple to enable me to offer them the support they need to do this work.

In the first session, we can begin to explore what has brought a you to therapy and it is a chance for you to begin to share some details about your life and experiences.
