About me

Reaching out to a therapist initially can feel intimidating and overwhelming but can be the first step towards gaining a fresh perspective on and addressing underlying issues.  As an existential therapist, I work with clients to think deeply about their own experience and what it means and is like to be them.  Therapy itself will not guarantee solutions, “make” individuals “better” or always be an enjoyable endeavour but can provide the opportunity to gain clarity around ourselves, our relationships with others and what has happened, is happening and could happen in our lives.

I have experience delivering therapy in a number of settings including community counselling services.  As well as seeing individuals in private practice, I am an honorary counsellor at a charity where I deliver long-term psychotherapy to survivors of sexual abuse and violence.   That said, people may come to therapy for a whole host of reasons.  Some may be related to recent events whereas some may have grown to be unbearable over time.  Others may not be linked to processing a particular event at all but simply feel confused and distressed.  A therapeutic relationship can provide a safe space to explore more closely our vulnerabilities, choices, avoidances, hopes and possibilities in life which, in turn, can elicit helpful shifts.  I will endeavour to support you in sharing your experiences and difficulties in a way and at a pace that feels safe for you.

Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I worked as a qualified lawyer in the City. Further, I spent a number of years volunteering at a residential suicide respite centre in North London as well as for national charities providing telephone and online support (Samaritans and Childline).

Please do call or leave a message and I will usually respond within 48 hours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

In addition to my core training I have undertaken significant CPD around working with clients involved or interested in a range of romantic, sexual, erotic, or intimate behaviours and relationships some of which may be understood as kinky.  I welcome clients with GSRD related issues and irrespective of however they self-describe.
