About me

COUNSELLOR/PSYCHOTHERAPIST BASED IN MEDWAY- OFFERING ONLINE, TELEPHONE AND FACE TO FACE SESSIONS.

Everyday tasks or life can feel like a struggle when we are feeling sad, stressed or experiencing depression. Managing emotions or interacting with people may have never been a problem in the past but now, is the thought of socialising or telling others how you feel causing you Anxiety? Do you feel that no matter how much you try there’s no hope? Through therapy, we can explore together for the answers you may need to overcome these issues.

I specialise in helping you understand your behaviour patterns that may impact your day to day functioning and/or relationships. These patterns of behaviour could be from situations you experienced in the past or are currently experiencing.

I run my Practice in the central location of historic Rochester.

I offer a confidential and safe space where you can just be who you want to be, without being judged. I work in a collaborative way to ensure your needs are kept at the heart of the therapy. I focus on what you want to achieve from therapy, not what others may be expecting of you. Valuing, respecting and honouring each persons' individuality, I believe is key.

I am a member of the BACP and I abide by their code of ethics and good practice.

I believe our therapeutic relationship doesn't just start in the therapy room; it starts from the moment you think about seeking therapy and when you consider what type of therapist you're looking for.  I offer a free 20 minute phone call should you need to ask any me any questions about my services.

Are you ready to start your therapeutic journey?

Training, qualifications & experience

I am currently the NHS Psychological Therapies Manager for the mental health charity MIND, based in North Kent. Over the years, I have been involved in and also led projects at North Kent Mind, such as Covid Response, and a womens peer support group project called The Circle.

The Circle project was created to support women over 45 who were disadvantaged, lonely, and isolated. Working with women with multiple disadvantages; mental health problems, homelessness, substance misuse, abuse and violence, offending, family breakdown or a combination of lower level issues.

I started off as a Counsellor at North Kent Mind and then worked my way up and through the services; working with clients experiencing Anxiety, General anxiety disorder, family issues, depression, suicidal thoughts, trauma, panic disorder and phobias.

I volunteered as a Counsellor for the organisation Pathways to Independence who work with vulnerable, single homeless people who have additional support needs; they may be recovering from substance misuse, suffering from mental health problems or have committed offences and are homeless because they have spent some time in prison. I have a strong relationship with this organisation and have gained great experience in how to work therapeutically with clients suffering from general anxiety disorder, substance misuse, sexual and domestic abuse, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, trauma, isolation, and dual diagnosis.  I started this work back in 2018 and still offer my voluntary services when I can.

I enjoy giving back to my local community so where possible I offer voluntary 6 weeks free therapy to those in need.

During my training days, I was a Counsellor for the organisation Emmaus Medway- a charity for people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. My time with Emmaus was very valuable for my learning. I had the opportunity to work with clients with various needs such as Learning Difficulties, Behavioural Problems, and on the Autistic Spectrum. Whilst working with this agency I was able to broaden my knowledge in a number of therapies such as Gestalt Therapy, Person Centred, Motivational Interviewing, TA, Inner Child Work, and CBT.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
