About me
ABOUT ME
I am a skilled experienced counsellor, committed to working within the BACP Ethical Framework, who offers remote confidential counselling either via video link (Zoom platform) or telephone. It is worth noting that research has proven that remote therapy is as effective as face to face
I've experience of offering counselling within the voluntary sector, within a primary care service , in clients own homes, and in rehab settings as well as within a specialised sexual violence counselling service.
ABOUT HOW I WORK
My philosophy is centred around empowerment, self-respect and building a good therapeutic relationship as this creates the crucial framework for successful therapy. with a strong commitment to ethical practice, working within the BACP Ethical Framework. I believe that whatever modality used, it is the relationship with the client that is at the heart of the counselling process. By offering a safe, secure and respectful environment provides the consistent framework to improve self-understanding and wellbeing.
At my core I am a Person-centred therapist - this means I have a humanistic approach that focuses on the ways clients see themselves rather than how I may feel I can interpret their ideas or even their unconscious thoughts.
This approach underpins all my work, but when I feel it is in your best interests I may integrate other approaches.
HOW COUNSELLING WORKS
During therapy I work to understand you from your point of view. I will always value you and will be open and genuine with you. No one knows you as well as you do and I respect that. I am not a nodding dog type counsellor, I will work with you to help you understand yourself and to support you to instigate behaviour or life changes you wish to make.
Fundamentally I work to help you get back in tune with your own inner values and to develop your self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence and to overcome the obstacles in life which are causing you distress. Helping you to access your own inner resources will empower you to find the way forward which is right for you as an individual, this is important as what is right for one is not necessarily right for another.
I have been privileged to support clients in therapy as they strive to understand themselves and their situations and to address and overcome a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, stress related difficulties, relationship issues, identity issues, physical health issues, sexual issues, addictions and compulsions and unexpected life changes.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I always undertake a thorough assessment with each client, to ensure my service is right for you and that you feel comfortable with me. Counselling is not cheap so it's important you have the right counsellor to meet your needs. If I feel your needs would be better met elsewhere I would discuss this with you.
Your first session is the assessment and this costs £28, there is no obligation to continue, that is your decision at that time.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
