About me

How I work
I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I currently offer face-to-face sessions located in the CVS building near York city centre, or on-line via Zoom.

Sessions last up to 60 minutes and can be short term (6 sessions) or longer term (12+ sessions) dependent on your personal needs.
I offer counselling to those aged 18 years and over.

I appreciate that it is difficult to speak about things that are hard, and sometimes these things can feel like too much. Working together we may explore those things, but doing so is up to you. I believe you are the expert of you and I will trust that you can be that, but sometimes we need help along the way.
I hope to help you out in what you may be going through. No problem is not too small, when it comes to how it effects your mental health, physical health and wellbeing. When and if you decide to receive Counselling, know that I will offer you respect, be understanding and supportive, and offer a safe therapeutic space where you can focus on you. I believe self-care goes a long way, and sometimes talking to someone who you trust to hold that is important.

My practice draws upon Humanistic approaches including Integrative, Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Existential ways of working. I would question weather these where a way of being. I focus on the person as an individual, giving them human rights to respect, equality and acceptance. This considers you as fully individual, who is unique and has different needs that if not met can cause some upset later.
If you need to talk about what is on your mind, and reflect, feel, explore, and work to towards reducing the stress, anxiety and/or depression, I could offer you this support.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
