About me

I am a counsellor offering online sessions and face-to-face sessions in Cambridge. I specialise in supporting adults (18+) recover from anxiety disorders (using CBT, including ERP for OCD), low-mood and low self-esteem.

I am here to provide a listening ear and the space and support you need to talk about and reflect on your feelings and experiences, make sense of what you are going through, improve your well-being and work towards recovery. If you are suffering from anxiety disorders (e.g. panic disorder/panic attacks, agoraphobia, emetophobia and other phobias, social anxiety, health anxiety, generalised anxiety, OCD, etc.), low mood/depression, and lack of confidence/low self-esteem, I can support you to build your own unique recovery programme, supported by psycho-educational resources. My aim is to support you when you need it and also give you the knowledge and understanding you need to continue your recovery on your own when you are ready to do so.

I currently work with adults (18+).

I offer online sessions Monday to Friday (day time and evenings).

I offer face-to-face sessions in Cambridge on Thursday evenings and Saturdays at: Cambridge Flourishing, 8B Romsey Terrace (blue door) Cambridge (off Mill Road) CB1 3NH.

Online sessions are £50 and face-to-face sessions are £60. Sessions last approximately 1hr.

If you are housebound/unable to travel (e.g. if you have phobias that stop you getting from A to B, or have mobility issues) and live in or close to Cambridge, I may be able to visit you at home (travel mileage and time may be reflected in the cost).

Please get in touch with me if you are interested in booking an initial consultation session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as a counsellor 20 years ago and have an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in CBT. My experience and expertise has been built up working in private practice, running a mental health charity's counselling service and my own experience of recovery. I make eclectic use of humanistic counselling, psychotherapy approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and ERP for OCD.

I enjoy writing about topics relating to recovery from problematic anxiety, low mood, and low self-esteem. This includes emphasising the importance of finding and protecting our True Self - our wellspring of well-being. I am particularly passionate and understanding about these subject areas as a result of my own personal experience of recovery. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
