About me

I OFFER TELEPHONE AND ONLINE (Video calling) COUNSELLING. I offer a brief interventions approach, fast, effective and practical help. I believe counselling should be a positive experience and not dwell unduly on the past, label people or use 'psychobabble' language. People are often surprised that longstanding issues can be improved relatively quickly with little or no distress. My aim is for you to leave each consultation feeling calmer, more confident and in control, with the tools and skills you need to fulfill your potential.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2001 and since this time I have worked in a variety of health fields within the NHS. I have experience within the mental health setting but I have also worked with clients with learning disabilities and physical health issues. I have enhanced CRB disclosure.

I decided to train as a counsellor / psychotherapist as I could see that this type of counselling works!!! It combines the most effective skills and techniques with the most up-to-date psychological and scientifically-based knowledge, to relieve emotional distress. It can help you move on as quickly as possible.

I have vast experience helping people suffering from: depression, panic attacks, phobias, anxiety and stress, anger problems, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction, obsessions, low self esteem, self-harming, poor concentration, relationship problems, poor sleep and more...

I look forward to hearing from you.

Please read some of my testimonials below:

Both my daughter & I where suffering from the same imbedded anxiety problems, Alison work wonders in providing us both with the tools to cope with our problem, thus give us a new lease of life.

After my daughters session on Saturday, she made the ultimate comment that all of us wanted to hear, she feel like a different person, she feels more confident in handling situations that she would walk over hot coals to avoid six week ago.

I must say that mirrors my sentiment completely.

She has been putting her new found skills to the test, by instigating social events and excepting one to one arrangements with her friends.

For me to witness this knowing how difficult it is, is truly overwhelming.

You have help us both in ways that are very hard to put into words, but I know that being happy within yourself is a great gift. Thank you.

I went to see Alison because I was suffering anxiety and self doubt over a big event in my life that was approaching. So much so it was effecting my sleep and myablity to be able to get on with my daily life.
From the start Alison took the time to listen and understand how I was feeling. She was calm, considerate and show me that what I was feeling was not because I was being silly or "weak" but perfectly normal, but just over blown. She gave the confidence to take back control.
I walked out from meeting Alison with effective tools to deal with my anxiety and a new found appreciation for myself. Which allowed me to meet my challenging event head on. I can not thank Alison enough.

I would highly recommmed Alison's services. She's very friendly and was very easy to speak to about the issues I had been facing. She always gave me very helpful advice and really helped me to positively move forward with my life.

After 35 years of being unable go go in a lift Alison gave me the confidence to conquer my overpowering anxiety and awful fear which has made a huge difference to my life and was achieved by her sheer professionalism as a practitioner of Human Givons. I thoroughly recommend her and would always seek her advice if I needed to again.

My 12 year old daughter was experiencing some anxiety around going to school to the point we would physically have to walk into the building with her in tears which was upsetting for us and distressing for her. She was doing well academically and a popular member of class and could not give any reason why she was feeling this way. Once she was actually in school she was fine, it appeared to be the actual thought of going that was causing her worries.
We took the summer holiday as an opportunity to try and address this issue and having heard good things about the Human Givens approach found Alison.
Obviously the content of sessions were confidentiality but Alison did keep us inform as much as she could within the bounds of patient confidentiality and she did explain the concepts of Human Givens and how we could help my daughter. I can say that after only two sessions my daughter no longer has any problems getting ready for and going to school. She also appears a lot happier in general.
Alison is very warm and friendly, and my daughter took an immediate liking to her.

I have absolutely no hesitations in recommending Alison and I would suggest she is an especially good therapist to work with young people.

Alison helped me to overcome a fear of flying that was becoming a significant problem whenever I needed to travel abroad. With just one session my anxiety reduced to a lower more manageable level that meant I could start enjoying holidays again rather than dreading them. Alison has a wonderful empathetic manner and creates a secure and nurturing environment to help address any difficulties. Highly recommended.
