About me

Hello, I’m Aaron! I’m a Chartered Clinical Psychologist in the NHS and private practice.  I wanted to tell you a bit more about myself, as I realise finding and reaching out to the right psychologist can be tough!

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

I am very lucky to be able to say I love what I do, ever since I started working with children living in care homes in 2009. Since then, I’ve had experience working with a wide variety of clients including children, young people, adults, older adults, and individuals with learning disabilities. I have also completed undergraduate, masters and doctoral level degrees, and have further specialist training in supporting people experiencing psychosis.

What should I expect when I meet you?

When we meet, we’ll spend time getting to know each other so I understand what brought you to see me. One of the most important parts of my work is building relationships, so I will be with you as we explore whatever is important to you in a non-judgmental, safe and empathic way. I work from a beautiful, peaceful and private location, or alternatively I can offer online or telephone sessions.  We’ll think about what might be helpful in moving forwards and what you might expect from our work together.

What therapies do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?

I have training and expertise in a variety of different approaches to therapy, such as Cognitive-Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment, Narrative, Psychodynamic and Compassion Focused. These are effective in helping people overcome difficulties such as low mood, anxiety, anger, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem/confidence, coping with the loss of a loved one, the impact of trauma or adjusting to new life circumstances. This experience enables me to provide tailor made therapy using the most effective methods at supporting you to overcome your difficulties.

What are your interests outside of psychology?

Outside of work I enjoy exercising and spending time with friends.  I play and watch a variety of sports, and even tried my hand at skydiving recently which was terrifying to say the least!  I also like to unwind with a book and a cup of coffee.

If you have any questions or would like to find out more about how you can access therapy, you can call or whatsapp 07362425588 or send an email to draaronrai@outlook.com
