About me

As a medical doctor and psychotherapist with over 30 years experience, I see individuals and couples from many different backgrounds, dealing with a wide variety of personal and professional issues – particularly feelings of sadness;
Low self-esteem; Health anxiety; Work-related stress; Redundancy; Bereavement, Relationship counselling (particularly where there is lack of intimacy and/or poor communication) work place issues, and adapting to overwhelming life changes.
I am registered with the UKCP. My background has been in holistic, non-drug approaches to health and healing for many years.

AUTOGENIC THERAPY

I also teach 8-week courses in 'Autogenic Training' – a wonderful self-help tool for profound relaxation and stress management - particularly helpful for anger, mild depression, anxiety, insomnia and a wide variety of medical and psychological conditions.

In a 2015 survey of people who learnt AT with me, they said they really valued the skill of autogenic relaxation – allowing them to feel in control, and empowered and value themselves more highly.

"This experience has helped me understand my past, deal with my present and look forward to my future’; focus and resilience, and tools to to deal with stress; control of anxiety and anger; clear thinking; better decision making; dealing with people and situations more effectively; empowering; feeling happy again; better sleep; ability to switch off after work; lower stress levels; relaxation; self kindness; connecting to people with empathy and compassion; enjoying life more; improved family relationships; positive attitude; peace of mind."

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a psychotherapist for over 30 years having trained with the Psychosynthesis & Education Trust and The British Autogenic Society, and am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

I retired from the General Medical Council as a medical doctor in 2019 after 30 years and now only see clients for Psychotherapy ; am a Fellow of the Faculty of Homeopathy, and a Fellow of the British Autogenic Society, and have taught Autogenic Training for profound relaxation and stress management for over 33 years.

Some Feedback
"I enjoyed being able to talk openly about myself in a space where someone really listens to you... It is so hard to actually talk to people more and more as I find everyone has so many stresses in their own lives... I like being able to have discussions about who I am and push myself into looking at what is really lying under the surface...Making the decision to come was the best choice I made in months....Once I took the first step to really try and help myself, the rest started to all fall into place...I will definitely come back again if I need help....

Most of us are attracted to having fulfilling relationships,enjoying good health, achieving our potential, coping with the peaks and troughs of life and being open to experience joy, intimacy and love.

Psychotherapy offers a safe and confidential opportunity to explore the ways we inhibit fulfillment of our potential, by narrowing our experience of life or making choices that are in conflict with our life aims.

These inhibitions appear in the form of anxiety, depression, frustration at work, or in a relationship, an inability to cope with change, eating disorders, a life crisis or illness, a sense of loss or grief, lack of self esteem, or a sense of hopelessness and isolation. People choose therapy for many different reasons.

If you are feeling invaded or overwhelmed by painful or unhappy thoughts or feelings from the past, or find yourself repeating the same old behaviour patterns and can't seem to change despite the resources of family, friends or work colleagues etc... then it may be helpful to explore the issues troubling you in greater depth through therapy in a confidential and professional setting. The therapeutic relationship is an very creative and insightful one which, through care and challenge, provides an extrordinary opportunity for real change and growth, healing and renewal.
