Dougie Robertson MBACP (Accred) UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor
My counselling approach will support you in a compassionate and kindly way that perhaps friends just aren't able to. I will engage you in a reflective dialogue, with the intention of listening deeply and empathically to whats troubling you.
Through this collaborative process, the intention is, that you will develop greater self awareness - of unhelpful mental conditioning from your past, and the problematic ways of coping you habitually cling to - which are often the cause of mental and emotional suffering.
Together, at a pace thats right for you, we will explore more skillful, alternative 'choices' available to you.
My approach also includes learning to turn towards difficult experiences like depression, anxiety, anger or fear with a more kindly approach. This can bring a welcome relief - especially if these states of mind have been with you for some time.
Alongside talking therapy and its therapeutic value I also offer the option of complimentary mindfulness practices, including meditation. These practices are above all, practical in every-day life, supporting the establishing of greater emotional confidence and psychological harmony.
Talking therapy and mindfulness approaches offers a gateway to the discovery of a more authentic you, a more integrated you, more at peace with yourself, loved ones and the world in general.
Clients inform me that I'm an open, friendly and generous therapist with significant awareness of cultural diversity.
Areas I specialise in include:
