About me

Hello I am Wendy, I have been counselling in Peterborough since 1998. I am an Registered Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I have worked in many settings over the years within Peterborough and its surrounding areas,

  • Doctors Surgeries,
  • Both primary and secondary schools delivering one to one and group work,
  • Within private agencies,
  • I managed 2 well known Young People's Counselling services respectively at different times.
  • I have counselled for Insight Healthcare (NHS Counselling Service)
  • I was the Peterborough Regional College Counsellor for two years.

I provide a professional, confidential, down to earth, sensitive, collaborative and non judgemental counselling service in central Peterborough or online to individuals.

I offer an Initial Assessment and this is a chance for you to tell me what brings you to counselling, and what you want and need from counselling, you may have questions to ask me, and I will have a few questions for you.

You are under no obligation to continue counselling after the initial assessment, however if we both feel we connect and can work together, then we can arrange weekly sessions (recommended for continuity and consistency).

I offer short, medium or long term counselling.
Sessions are 50 or 25 minutes in duration.
Fees are £50 per 50 minute session  or £25 per 25 minute session (see further down the page for more details)

I work in a very fluid way, getting to know you and tailoring the counselling to your needs. I am trained Integratively and work in a Person Centred way, but I can also help you link to your past, and can help support you with techniques and ways of supporting yourself in the present.
I will encourage you to be aware of how you feel on many levels so you can become holistically self-aware.

I can offer other materials to help you connect and make sense of things, such as painting, drawing, (you do not need to be an artist or feel you have to meet certain levels, just express yourself as you need).

I will help you become aware of how your body responds to your emotions, and how you feel as a whole person.

I will not judge you and will help you to not judge yourself in the process as we are all human.

I attend regular continued professional development. These trainings influence the way I work and further advance my development and update my skills. This all helps creat a richness to what I can offer you.

I am an Accredited member of and work within the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists code of ethics and Framework.

I am fully insured.
I am registered with the Information Registers Office (IRO)
I hold a regularly updated Enhanced DBS certificate.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

Due to Covid 19 I am not working face to face at the moment. I am following government guidelines to keep clients and myself safe. I offer counselling over the phone or over online video call.

Once open again my consulting room is within Simply Chi situated at 81 Lincoln Road in Peterborough town centre and is easily served by all major roads. I have clients from many surrounding areas including Bourne, Spalding, Huntingdon, Stamford, Oundle, Market Deeping and Cambridge.
The city is served by a good bus service to the town centre and Lincoln road is no more than 5 minutes walk from the bus station.

There is free parking at the venue, however in the unlikely event that the carpark is full there is a on road fee paying parking metre road side of the venue.
