About me

Hi, I'm Vicki. Welcome to my profile.

There may be many reasons why you are visiting my profile today, life might feel difficult or overwhelming right now. You might be looking for support through a painful time.

Whether you are looking to find some peace or to explore past or present events that are impacting your life; I will offer a safe, non- judgemental space that allows you to freely explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences.

My aim is to help you feel understood, accepted, and comfortable to be completely you.

I am a fully qualified Person-Centred counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)

I have experience with helping clients to manage and cope with; anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, trauma, bereavement and childhood abuse. I have a special interest in childhood emotional neglect (CEN).

In addition, I have experience and an interest in working with clients who are dealing with a child with a medical diagnosis, and the associated stress and emotional impact this has within a family.

When choosing a counsellor, it’s so important to find a therapist that feels like a good fit, I see myself as a warm and empathic counsellor.  I feel honoured to be part of someone’s unique journey, to build trust, in the hope of creating meaningful connections. My belief being that a strong therapeutic relationship, along with the right conditions present, can be the most powerful tool in the healing process.

Person-Centred Counselling puts you, the client at the centre of the work. It can be a supportive and collaborative process. I will listen to you without judgement and we can work together to process aspects of your life, gaining insight into your feelings or behaviour. Counselling may help to make sense of your experiences, bringing peace or clarity.

I predominantly offer online Counselling via Zoom and I have some availability for Face to Face sessions from my therapy room in Bedford Town Centre. I currently offer short and long term counselling to adults over 18.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
