About me

My name is Tula.  I am a counsellor with over 10 years experience.  Since gaining my diploma in psychodynamic counselling in 2011, I have worked as a counsellor in NHS oncology and also in private practice.

I have covered and have training in several other other models of counselling during and since my diploma training.  I also have a certificate in client centred counselling. I tend to adapt my sessions to the needs of my clients dipping out of my toolbox of  knowledge, experience and theory.  I attempt to consciously adapt the sessions to the needs of the individual client.

My experience covers issues such as depression, loss, addictive behaviour, relationship issues, anxiety etc.

I have a particular interest in offering a service to anyone struggling with a loved ones addictive behaviour, be it a partner, mother, father, brother, sister, relative, friend or colleague.    Whilst trying to cope with someones addictive behaviour a vast array of conflicting emotions can often surface which are hard to deal with such guilt, anger, shame, sadness and loss.

Often the addicts behaviour leads to criminal offences leaving family and friends even more bewildered and alone.  I have recognised that there is little counselling support for them.

Addictive behaviour often has a huge impact on family life and often tears loved ones apart resulting in their own emotional stress.  If you identify with this, then I would like offer you a safe space to share your feelings and to work through them without  judgement or prejudice.

Whilst it is acknowledged that there is little that you can personally do to change an addicts behaviour, (they have to find their own way of dealing their issues) there is much you can do for your own emotional well being.

I am also a wife, mother and grandmother who has vast life experiences which enable me to better empathise with the stresses of modern life.

Through the therapeutic journey with my clients, I hope that they have the opportunity to explore any issues that may be preventing them from enjoying happy fulfilling lives.

If you feel that I may be someone who you can work out some of your emotional issues with then I can offer you affordable face to face sessions in a relaxed and comfortable environment, whilst understanding the need for a safe, confidential space to work out for yourself a way forward.

I am a member of the BACP and work by their code of ethics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
