About me

Are you struggling with something difficult in your life and feel you would benefit from some support? I know first-hand how overwhelming it can be when looking for help.

Therapy can bring a sense of clarity around your difficulties. The process can at times be challenging, but, worthwhile and at times, even enjoyable. Individuals enter into counselling for all manner of reasons. Sometimes, childhood/adulthood life experiences can impact the way we live our lives and can impact our thoughts, feeling and behaviour. It can also influence relationships with others and our wellbeing.

I am a qualified Integrative therapist. This enables me to tailor sessions to suit your needs, provide a safe space for you to talk and explore your issues, provide psychoeducation around your issues, help you to build skills, and teach you techniques that you can use between sessions. I can help with goal setting and assertive training amongst other things.

After my initial training, I decided to gain further qualifications to work with individuals with eating disorders/disordered eating and obesity. I have an avid interest in this area and feel very passionate about restoring an individual’s relationship with food.

In my years of practice, I have also worked with people of all ages and backgrounds with different issues such as anxiety/depression, stress, relationship issues, trauma-related issues, self-esteem/confidence issues and eating behaviour.

My philosophy is that when you gain understanding it brings knowledge and with knowledge comes the power to make changes. I believe that you can make the changes if you have the right conditions in which to do so. I would like to provide the right conditions for you to make the desired changes to your life and help/support you to achieve your goals.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
