Areas of Interest:

Trauma/ Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

We can sometimes experience traumatic life events that alter our way of being, living, seeing the world and how we feel about ourselves. Trauma could present itself in various way, some of those symptoms are: hypervigelance, being easily startled or frightened, on-guard, engaging in self-destructive behaviours, difficulty sleeping, flashbacks and nightmares etc. These symptoms can be debilitating, impacting several areas of yourself and inhibiting you from moving forward and enjoying life. I can support you in overcoming past or recent trauma and help you regain control of your life.

Depression:

Depression can present itself in various ways, it isn't "one size fits all". You may experience a lack of motivation, little interest or enjoyment in anything, changes in appetite, over sleeping, tiredness, overworking or procrastination, negative thoughts, feelings of guilt, shame and worthlessness, intense sadness, low self-worth/esteem and a general feeling of uselessness. Together, we can identify what depression feels and looks like for you and work together in helping you feel yourself and enjoy life again.

Anxiety:

There are various anxiety disorders. I predominantly work with the following:

Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD, Excessive Worry), Panic, Health Anxiety, Phobia, Social Anxiety, Separation Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Anxiety can present itself in various ways in the body such as, back and beck tension, shallow breathing, shaky, heart palpitations, body aches and stomach churning. These symptoms and feelings on unease could lead to avoidance of various activities, places, responsibilities or people. We can work together to explore your individual cycle of anxiety and implement coping tools and techniques for managing and gaining control over anxiety. Take the next step for your wellbeing by contacting and booking your first appointment.

Your first session:

It is important to fully understand and explore your struggles initially to determine the areas of focus for therapy and agree on treatment goals. Your first session usually lasts 50 minutes and is important for getting comfortable with talking and building trust. We then have follow up sessions either weekly or biweekly (depending on individual needs) again lasting 50 minutes.
