About me
I am a qualified counsellor, offering a safe, non-judgmental space to explore areas of your life where you feel anxious, stuck or want to make changes. You may have noticed yourself repeating patterns, struggling with relationships or feel your life has gone off course and need support and a new perspective to get back on track.
Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I will take the time to listen and understand what is important to you. We can then decide the best way to move forward, at a pace that is right for you.
I work with a range of therapeutic approaches, adapting them to suit your individual needs. My core training is in Transactional Analysis (TA), a talking therapy that helps us understand why we think, feel and behave as we do. TA is based on the belief that we are born with the ability to make life changes, but our past experiences and the stories we tell ourselves can limit this. In counselling we will gently, unravel these old patterns together and discover new paths and possibilities.
Have you ever wondered why anxiety and trauma can affect your ability to think clearly or make decisions?
When the nervous system responds to signals of danger, it moves into fight, flight or freeze responses and switches resources away from the brain to the body. When the danger passes the body usually begins to relax, however for many people the nervous system struggles to rebalance. When that occurs, talking therapy alone may not be enough as our thinking has temporarily "gone off-line." I use somatic approaches to help you to reconnect with your sense of inner safety and support emotional regulation.
