About me

We all need help at some time in our life. I provide a friendly, nonjudgmental, safe space to work through issues with you. I adapt my approach to suit your needs; my online video service is very popular, and I also do phone calls and home visits. I have always helped people; it is what I do and who I am. I started in health, fitness, and well-being and moved into other fields until I found my calling in counselling and psychotherapy. Helping others to find their meaning and purpose in life, overcoming their physical and mental health challenges, whatever they may be. To discover the why and the how of who they are, to change the thing they can help with accepting the things they cannot. To go beyond just being OK and flourish. I have spent most of my life pursuing this aim.

Training, qualifications & experience

I love learning and have taken a long and non-traditional path to my training and have been studying continuously in this field for eight years and working for 6.

I have a level 8 Diploma in CBT accredited by the University of The West of Scotland and have completed several other courses in CBT, for Trauma Focused and Alternatives for Families CBT. CBT forms the base of my approach to helping because it is evidenced as being effective and recommended by NICE. It provides logical steps to therapy, can be followed easily and provides solutions to problems that can be used after therapy has ended.

I have several master's level certifications in Complex Grief, and Applied Positive Psychology. Specialist training in Addiction, ADHD. The additional knowledge and training I gained augments my work, providing a depth of understanding beyond the average counsellor and, in the case of positive psychology, an evidence-based frame to help my clients go beyond ending suffering to flourishing.

I have level 3 and 4 diplomas in counselling (distinction) and take an integrative, humanistic perspective. This means I will always treat my clients with respect and hold them in unconditional positive regard, whereas CBT tends to be more structured I can take a client-directed outlook and will use any method, tool, or principle from other counselling approaches and integrate it to achieve the client's objectives. Always agree with the client on what it is we are doing and why.

I have advanced diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy and trained in other methods such as the 5-path method, ultra-depth and ultra-hight, and the Silcott method. Clinical hypnosis is a fast and effective way to treat many conditions, and many techniques are used in Schema therapy, Integrated Family Systems, and even EMDR. I first came across training to be a clinical hypnotherapist.

I believe to be at our best, we need to not just tend to the mind but also the body and how we sense and feel; in CBT, we start with thoughts; with clinical hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), we start with our body and emotions aiming to create harmony. I have trained in these techniques, and when working with clients face-to-face can also perform Auricular (ear) Acupuncture.
