About me
We all face challenges at different points in life, and seeking support can be a powerful step toward growth and healing. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and safe space to explore and work through your concerns at your pace. My approach is entirely tailored to your needs, whether through online video sessions, phone calls, or home visits.
With a lifelong passion for helping others, my journey began in health, fitness, and well-being before leading me to my true calling in counselling and psychotherapy. My work focuses on helping individuals navigate physical and mental health challenges, uncover their meaning and purpose, and build a flourishing life.
Together, we’ll explore your experiences, understand the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of your story, and identify meaningful steps toward change. Whether it’s transforming the things within your control or finding peace with what cannot be changed, I’m here to support you in moving beyond ‘just OK’ to living a life that truly fulfils you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have spent most of my adult life studying how people recover from grief, trauma, addiction, and major life challenges. My learning began in my early twenties and has continued for almost forty years. I have been practising formally for over eleven years, supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life circumstances.
My work combines structured psychological approaches with integrative counselling. I hold a Level 8 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy accredited by the University of the West of Scotland, together with additional specialist training in Trauma-Focused CBT and Alternatives for Families CBT. CBT provides practical tools for understanding patterns of thinking and behaviour and helps clients develop skills they can continue using long after therapy has ended.
Alongside CBT I hold a Level 7 Diploma in Counselling with distinction and work from an integrative humanistic perspective. This means therapy is always guided by the client’s goals, experiences, and values. I draw from several therapeutic traditions and work collaboratively with each client to find an approach that fits them best.
My clinical training also includes advanced work in areas where emotional difficulties are often complex and overlapping. I have master’s level certifications in Complex Grief and specialist training in Autism Spectrum Conditions and ADHD. I also hold advanced diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy and am trained in methods including the Five-Path approach, Ultra Depth, Ultra Height, and the Silcott method. I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, approaches that work with emotional and physiological aspects of experience as well as cognition. When working face to face I can also provide auricular acupuncture.
In addition to clinical therapy, I have undertaken advanced study in approaches that focus on human growth and psychological well-being. I hold a Level 7 Diploma in Life Coaching, together with master’s level training in Applied Positive Psychology. These approaches complement therapeutic work by helping people clarify goals, strengthen resilience, and develop the psychological resources needed to move beyond recovery toward a more fulfilling life.
I have also studied relationship approaches, including the Gottman Method and Imago Relationship Therapy. These models explore patterns of communication, emotional connection, and conflict resolution within relationships, and their principles can be integrated when supporting individuals or couples experiencing relational difficulties.
My academic background also includes qualifications in business and finance. While these sit outside the clinical field, they often help me understand the practical pressures many people experience around work, responsibility, and decision-making.
My professional background includes training in sports medicine through the American College of Sports Medicine and study in nutrition, which provides a broader understanding of the relationship between physical health, stress, and psychological wellbeing.
Over the years I have had the privilege of working with several respected organisations including the NHS, Forward Trust, Cruse Bereavement Support, Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care, the YMCA, and a Harley Street health management organisation. Through this work I have supported hundreds of individuals navigating grief, trauma, addiction, and complex life transitions.
