About me

Hi my name is Suzanne and I am a qualified counsellor in advanced psychotherapy training. I work with individuals and couples over the age of 18 and offer 50 minute in person session in a central location in the city of Winchester.

Some of the issues I am most experienced with include anxiety and depression, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, low confidence, self esteem and disordered eating.

I would best describe my approach as warm, respectful and non-judgemental. I am passionate about helping clients reconnect with themselves and the world around them, helping them to live a happier and fuller life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my training in counselling and psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute in London in 2019. I hold a Certificate in Therapeutic Skills & Studies and a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am currently completing an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at Metanoia.

Transactional Analysis (TA) is one of several schools of theory in counselling and psychotherapy. I chose TA because it is a powerful tool for understanding and improving how we relate to ourselves and one another.

Before training in counselling and psychotherapy, I explored and trained in a number of therapies. I hold a certificate in Life Coaching and am a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

I qualified as a Meditation teacher in 2011 and a Yoga teacher in 2013 through the DRU International School of Yoga. I have taught Yoga and meditation to groups and individuals over a number of years. I recently completed my teacher training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) at the University of Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
