About me
I am a child & adolescent art psychotherapist and specialise in working with adolescents.
I facilitate a safe, contained therapeutic space with a range of art materials if you wish to use them, to allow a creative way to think through and process challenging experiences and difficulties. I specialise in working with adolescents.
It can be difficult to ask for help, finding the right person to work alongside you is an important part of the process to enable the therapeutic relationship to develop and be used.
I offer a psychodynamic way in which to think through and work with difficult and distressing feelings in the here and now, which can often relate to previous unresolved experiences and issues.
Art Psychotherapy is often a more accessible form of therapy for those that struggle to verbalise and make sense of their feelings and emotions. I aim to facilitate personal change in the long term and help find a different way of engaging with and relating to the world.
I am a fully state registered therapist with my practise governed by the Health Professional Council.
I regularly engage with my own professional development and art making to ensure I am equipped with current research and practice.
Training, qualifications & experience
MA Art Psychotherapy - Goldsmiths College 2003 - 2006
I have extensive experience in work with adolescents and children with a range of mental health issues. Such as anxiety, depression, self harming and eating disorders. I also have extensive experience with children and adolescents with physical health problems including effected family members such as siblings.
Alongside my private practice and supervision I continue to work in the NHS with children and adolescents.
I am a Lecturer at Goldsmiths university of London on the MA Art Psychotherapy course (2012 - present)
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
