About me

Hello, I’m Sian, a qualified counsellor. I’m here to listen and support you through the issues that you have and to work with you towards positive change. I offer a safe space to talk, with client confidentiality being a high priority. My work follows the good practice standards of the BACP Ethical Framework. I can offer sessions in both English and Cymraeg. Sessions can be indoors or as ”Walk and Talk” or “Eco Therapy” sessions outdoors.

It’s important you get the right therapist for you as the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client needs to work for the therapy to work.

I am a Person Centred Counsellor/ therapist which means I will hold a safe space for you, encourage and support you to open up about your issue(s) and to take the lead.

Life experiences big or small, short or long term can distort us. The person centred approach encourages us to realise, develop and work towards our full potential.

We will explore your feelings, emotions, behaviours and beliefs to work towards positive change and self-awareness. This will help you build your own resources to grow, deal with and manage your issue(s).

I’m not here to judge, but to accept, value and to see your experience from your perspective. I will be honest and transparent in how I experience you and your world, and I will be empathetic in seeing your viewpoint as if I were you. It is important that we use these values to have a strong foundation for our therapy sessions. This can be challenging and uncomfortable but is needed for change and growth.

Every person is unique with individual needs that need to be met. I am a person centred counsellor but will draw on other integrative approaches where relevant to meet your needs. The number of sessions each person needs varies too. This can be discussed at your first session and reviewed as sessions continue.

I’m based in Llanrwst, Conwy Valley where I can offer face to face and online therapy sessions. Eco Therapy and Walk and Talk sessions (both outdoor therapy sessions) are based around Llanrwst, the wider Conwy Valley and down onto the coast in Llandudno. See the details below and get in touch for further information.

Talking therapy:

It’s good to talk. Talking therapy can help you understand and get to know yourself and where you have blocks and issues to work through. It can help you overcome and/or manage your issues.

Holding a therapy session and talking in a room isn’t for everyone and there are great benefits to having therapy outdoors in nature.

Eco Therapy  - Connecting with Nature:

Research shows that being out in nature and connecting with nature has positive benefits on our mental and physical health. Stress and anxiety can be reduced, blood pressure reduced, mood improved. Breathing in fresher air and grounding can calm the nervous system.

It can be easier to talk when we’re outside and in nature.

Spending longer and regular amounts of time in nature and connecting with nature can contribute towards positive behavioural change.

Walk and Talk Sessions:

You might prefer a walk and talk sessions if:

  • A therapy room might feel claustrophobic.
  • Physical movement outdoors may help with any blocks.
  • You feel disconnected from nature and want to reconnect.
  • You want to explore your response to the world today.

Walk and Talk Sessions are based around Llanrwst, the wider Conwy Valley and down onto the coast in Llandudno. They can be 50 or 80 minutes. Longer sessions can be discussed.

Coming to our Senses, Forest Bathing, Creative Therapy:

You might prefer a session with mindful and creative invites in nature if:

  • You already have a connection with nature and feel more comfortable in this environment.
  • You want to express yourself in a different way to talking.
  • A therapy room might feel claustrophobic.
  • Physical movement outdoors may help with any blocks.
  • You feel disconnected from nature and want to reconnect.
  • You want to explore your response to the world today.

These sessions are based around Llanrwst and the wider Conwy Valley

These methods can be incorporated into talking and walk and talk sessions or be individual session. Individual sessions are usually a half day. Please get in touch to discuss and for the cost.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

About me:

I originally qualified with a Geography degree as I have always been interested in how people and the natural world co-exist and use our planet. How our cultures and societies interact and resulting issues. I have always worked with people and the outdoors and express myself through being creative.

Through counselling and mindfulness, I have dealt with my own life issues big and small and gained experience and ways of thinking that made sense and led me to qualifying as a counsellor. Along with my training I can draw on experiences and knowledge, where appropriate, to support others as part of my therapy practice.

I currently work as a Counsellor and Wellbeing Officer.

Counselling: I have worked with perpetrators of domestic abuse, anger, loss, bereavement and grief, relationship issues, low mood, anxiety, stress, life/career change, self-worth, Dementia, Parkinsons, carers, Menopause, fatigue, loneliness, confidence, courage, work – life balance, work related issues, health related issues, self-care. If you don’t see your own reason for counselling, please contact me. I am happy to discuss your needs with you to ensure I am able to help.

Wellbeing: My work focuses on being mindful and utilising the benefits of forests, woodlands and the natural world for our physical and mental health.

The great outdoors and being creative are ways for me to recharge my batteries and look after myself.
