About me

Hello, my name is Shivon

A warm welcome to ReDiscover & Bloom Therapy which is all about self-discovery and focusing and investing in you.

Making changes to your life is not easy, however, you have taken the first step by seeking therapy.

Experience

I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor/Therapist who works with individuals, couples and other relationships.  I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, abandonment, conflict, abuse, stress, bereavement,  grief, loss, family and relationships,  addictions, anger management, fear and phobias.

Prior to training as a Therapist I worked within the corporate legal sector in family law and property services and subsequently trained as a Parenting Facilitator working with families. children and young people.  I am passionate about mental health and wellbeing and have worked within the NHS for  over 15 years within mental health and acute settings supporting patients, their families and staff by ensuring that a high level of care is provided and when things go wrong ensuring that there is learning.

Inclusivity is at the heart of my practice and I work with a diverse range of clients regardless of your ethnicity, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation.  Additionally, I  support people who are unemployed, students and those who work within social care,  healthcare, education, legal, corporate, media, the arts and hospitality industries)  to address their emotional and behavioural difficulties.

It may be that you are new to therapy or have had therapy in the past.  Whatever, your background you will be treated with respect and will always receive a high quality level of care.

If you are struggling, feeling restlessness, confused, forgetful, overwhelmed or finding it difficult to control your emotions; or suspect that you may be neurodivergent,  I  can help.   I have  several years specialist experience in working with  neurodiversity particularly ADHD and co-existing disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder,  Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

I provide an effective and compassionate service which will enable clients to have a better understanding of how they are feeling.   In turn, I will help you to manage your symptoms which will help you to  become less anxious so that you can prioritise and improve your overall focus and wellbeing.

In addition to my practice, I provide counselling and therapy  for a specialist organisation in the city of London which sees clients who have pregnancy and child related issues.  This includes pregnancy loss (planned/unplanned, fertility problems and parenting issues.  I am also an accredited infant loss and subsequent pregnancy loss practitioner.

What can you expect

I am passionate about supporting people and will always create a warm, friendly, professional, safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to feel at ease to sit and talk through your difficulties at your own pace.  This will allow us to explore in the session what has brought you to therapy and how I can help you.

For some people, life can feel like an emotional rollercoaster which affects not only the mind but the body.  As a consequence, you may be left feeling detached from your sense of self and relationships, experiencing triggers or unhelpful thoughts,  I can help you to navigate through this including exploring the physical sensations in your body such as tension in the neck, which may arise as a result of the stress and/or anxiety that you are experiencing.

Everyone is unique - one glove certainly does not fit all and we will work together to obtain a deep understanding of your concerns and what works for you.  My theoretical approach is  integrative including Humanistic,  Psychodynamic and Attachment Therapies.  I also integrate Behavioural Therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialetical Behaviour Therapy into my practice.  .

When words are not enough, I can work from a creative and holistic approach (such as mindfulness and therapeutic worksheets). However, I can assure you that I will always work in collaboration with you to decide what is the best approach that is appropriate for you and your personal situation.  This will help us to navigate and explore what is important to you, help you to heal and accomplish your goals.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
Maya Angelou, "I know why the caged bird sings"

I am experienced at working with resistance and those who are feeling stuck and do not know where to start to tell their story.  Facing your fears and connecting with what is happening in your life can be a scary experience.   Sometimes it can be easier to be kind to others than ourselves. and being compassionate and gentle to yourself and investing in your mental wellbeing is a big step.  I will support you on your journey of reflection to grow and flourish by helping you to work through these difficulties and recognise your strengths.  By exploring different therapeutic interventions (techniques and strategies) during and outside of our sessions this will help you to gain clarity, acceptance, self-awareness and help to improve your overall wellbeing.

Some of the difficulties I help clients with:

  • Are you feeling anxious, low in mood, experiencing sleepless nights and would like to control those unhelpful thoughts?
  • Would you like to set healthy boundaries and are not sure which way to turn?
  • Is your relationship toxic? Do you have different love languages?Would you like to try to rebuild your relationship and communicate better?
  • Do you feel unheard and judged by other people?
  • Were you abandoned by your family? Is it difficult to trust? Would you like to reconnect?
  • Do you struggle to cope and make sense of what is going on for you?

  • Are you experiencing flashbacks from the trauma that you have experienced?
  • Is intergenerational trauma stopping you from moving forwards? Are you estranged from your family?
  • Do you want to discuss a diagnosis e.g.  ADHD, cancer, menopause, long covid, dyslexia, dementia,  fertility?
  • Do you need support with time management, overthinking, staying on task and/or impulsive behaviours?
  • Are you trying to come to terms with pregnancy loss, the loss of your identity, relative/friend, employment, relationship, financial loss, memory loss, divorce or separation?
  • Are you struggling to conceive, connect with your pregnancy or bond with your baby?
  • Do you find it difficult to make new friends and feel isolated?
  • Do have a phobia or addictive behaviours e.g. substance/alcohol abuse  or gambling?

I will always work in your best interests at all times and at the end of our work together, I provide a wellness/wellbeing support pack which will assist you as you continue your journey outside of our sessions.

How to get in touch

I completely understand that it is important to find a therapist that you are able to build a good rapport with and that they are experienced and qualified to work with the difficulties that you are experiencing. If you would like my support to address the challenges that you are currently facing in a safe and caring environment, I offer a free 15 minute consultation on the telephone or online video call without any obligation to commence therapy.  This contact will give us the opportunity to discuss your needs and answer any questions that you may have.

I work with clients short and long-term; face-to-face, online and on the telephone.  Sessions are normally 50 minutes or 90 minutes (if longer sessions are needed) and we can discuss the frequency and timing of our sessions.  However, I will always try to accommodate you as best as I can.

I practice from two therapy consulting rooms in Enfield and London Liverpool Street.

In the city of London my consulting room is opposite Liverpool Street Train Station (close to a number of mainline train and tube stations which are all within walking distance from Moorgate, Bank and Aldgate).   I also offer online (via secure video platform 'zoom' and 'whereby') and telephone sessions to clients across the UK.

My consulting room in Enfield is well located in the town centre and is easily accessible from Liverpool Street, Haringey, Southgate, Barnet, Cheshunt and Chingford. It is close to Palace Gardens Shopping Centre and a short walking distance from Enfield Town and Enfield Chase Train Stations.  The nearest tube station is Oakwood and there are several bus stops nearby.

If you are interested in working together, please get in touch via telephone or email.  I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours and look forward to helping you to take that first step to a new you!

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
