About me

Sometimes are coping strategies and the ways we relate to others may become problematic. Relationships may have broken down, you may be suffering from anxiety, depression or low self esteem. You may have lost someone very close to you or something that was really important to you in your life.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy can offer the opportunity to begin to make sense of what underlies your difficulties, come to terms with your losses and discover new perspectives. I help you make links between what you are doing in the here and now and the way you experience your life and the people within it. This new understanding can begin to bring about a more balanced and healthier way of relating.

I have many years experience of working as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and have helped clients from a wealth of different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and ages.

How I work

I provide a supportive and safe space for you to express your thoughts and explore your feelings openly. Change takes place as together we explore the repeating patterns in your life and relationships and reflect on the underlying dynamics which are present.

When it comes to loss and grief, this can lead to a range of overwhelming emotions, including feelings of sadness, denial, anger, anxiety, loneliness, and fatigue. The closer the relationship the more difficult it may be to adapt after the loss, be it a loved one, a pet, a job, a way of life, youth, health, or culture.

I support people during this painful period in their lives to work through these feelings. It is normal to experience a range of emotions but there’s no right or wrong way to grieve no matter who or what you are grieving for.

I provide a free initial telephone consultation. Please contact me by email or phone to arrange a mutually convenient time to discuss your therapy needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
