About me

I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society, and a Registered Member of the BACP. and I adhere to both of these Ethical Codes of Practice.

This means that my work is regularly clinically supervised, and I ensure strict confidentiality.

My training is in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analysis, although I use a variety of different modalities in my practice.

I continue to attend professional seminars, workshops, and other training to ensure that my personal and professional development remain current.

I offer long term face to face therapy, or short term, solution focused therapy, if preferred. I am also a qualified EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Practitioner.

I have a number of years experience of working with individuals with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, difficult relationships with food, stress, anger, loss and bereavement (including pet bereavement), addictive behaviours, as well as family/work/relationship issues.

In my experience, people make the decision to come to counselling for many reasons, and I understand that it can feel very daunting to embark on a journey of this kind.

However, I believe that just being able to talk about your thoughts and feelings can often bring great relief, and that this experience can be life changing.

I view the counselling relationship as a collaborative one, in which you, the client, are the expert in your own life, and my role is to provide you with a warm, supportive, non judgemental, safe space from which, together, we can explore the issues that are troubling you.

I look forward to hearing from you, if you feel that the time may be right to take the first steps on your journey.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society

This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
