About me

Welcome. I’m Sarah. It can be so difficult to ask for help so I acknowledge the courage it's taken to reach out.  However you arrived here, I'm so glad you're here.

Are you looking to find a place of peace or connectedness.

Maybe life's challenges,  a loss or a crisis have left you feeling broken, overwhelmed and unsure of which way to turn.

Turn to me.

Do you hide your feelings believing they are too much or too vulnerable to share?

It may be you feel uncomfortable to be even thinking about your own needs and wants, especially if you have always put others before yourself.

Or maybe you often experience low self-esteem or high anxiety and hiding away and making yourself small seems the only way?

I am here for you and I want to listen.

It doesn't have to stay like this. The good news is together, I can help you learn to move forwards, process and heal from life's difficulties.

We can work together to develop your confidence and self esteem and find more fulfillment in your relationships, especially in the relationship with yourself.

I will be your safe place to come to as you move through your deepest pain and fears and together we can develop the structures you need to support you physically and emotionally.

Healing is possible. I know because I've been there too.

Clients stories I have heard many times are that they feel unable to speak out, allow themselves to be seen and ask for help. It can feel very isolating.

Let me be your 'Gentle Companion' and hear how your world is for you.

I offer you a refuge where you can breathe, slow down and begin to explore and make sense of what matters to you.  Our process will be gentle and each new insight will help us to move forward at a pace that's right for you.

Through connection, understanding and acceptance I will be alongside you whilst you grow and give encouragement to look at yourself and your troubled mind in a kinder and more hopeful way.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are" - Carl Gustav Jung

I work in a holistic, trauma-informed way with an integrative approach meaning I use a combination of therapeutic tools and theories to support and nurture what is best for each unique client including mind, body and the whole essence of you. As well as talking, part of our work could also involve creativeness such as art, mindfulness and music if you wished.

I offer both long term and short term therapy. Therapy can be something clients need over a matter of a year or more and others may need only 8-12 weeks. It all depends on your needs and requirements so we would work together to determine when would be a good time to end.

If you feel you would like to make an appointment with me or would just like to know more about me or ask some questions, the first step is to email me or alternatively call me on 07754 098965.

I would contact you as soon as I can to arrange an informal free 10 minute telephone conversation to get a clearer picture of how life is for you right now, if I could be the right fit for you and if you would be happy to work together. There is absolutely no obligation to do so.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified, fully insured and I am a professional member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) This means I am a regulated practitioner and uphold their code of practice and ethical framework.

I hold a CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling -  Training integratively means I can use different tools or approaches when working with my clients to fit their needs individually. Such approaches as Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis and Transpersonal.

I’ve had the privilege of working with a varied range of clients from children age 5 years to adults age 75 years. Some of these experiences are:

I have worked for Place2Be, a charity working in schools, to work with primary school children supporting them with talk therapy, play and Art. I have Disclosure & Barring Service certification and accessed other trainings such as Endings with Children and helping children to tell their stories.

I have worked within a Women’s Centre for a couple of years providing individual therapy. Part of my time there I was providing counselling for frontline services during the COVID 19 pandemic.

I also set up and ran a counselling service in a Carer’s Centre offering subsidised services for Carers.

I have achieved many certificates such as Treating Generalised Anxiety & Panic Disorder, Trauma ,The Brain and Recovery, Cert for Counselling clients on the Telephone and Online, Advanced Safeguarding and Children's Emotional Wellbeing. At present I am completing a course to become a Trauma Certified Professional and also Working with Disassociation.

I undertake regular continued professional development to keep me update with the latest information and most importantly be the best I can be for my clients.

In my different areas of counselling and therapy I have worked with many different issues including but not limited to relational trauma, bereavement, feelings of worthlessness and low self confidence, the difficulties of caring for disabled or dying loved ones, challenging life transitions such as marriage, childbirth to an empty nest. I also have experience of working with high sensitivity.

I am often humbled and feel privileged to have worked and to have sat with others in their most vulnerable times.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
