About me

Sometimes in life, we need space to take a breath and for someone trusted and neutral to hear our difficulties to help us see a way forward. At the heart of my therapy, there is a safe relationship within a confidential space, where you feel heard and encouraged to talk freely about the challenges life is bringing you and to explore ways forward towards long-lasting change. You may find yourself struggling with a crisis, a specific life event, or an issue that has been building up over a long time, or you may recognise certain patterns of behaviour that hold you back.

How can I help?
Counselling offers the opportunity to overcome difficulties that seem to impact your quality of life, helping you to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours more clearly. My work is informed by a range of counselling models, predominantly psychodynamic, systemic and brief-focused therapy, and I aim to provide what is most appropriate to you. I offer long-term-open-ended counselling, with weekly 50-minute sessions, allowing you to explore anything on your mind.

My brief-focused counselling is offered as a short-term therapy, sessions are 50 minutes and are weekly over a short period (6, 8 or 12 weeks). This is helpful if you would like to explore a specific issue which is causing you problems, and we work together to enable you to make positive changes around a specific difficulty you are experiencing.

What can I help with?
I have a particular interest in working with issues relating to relationships, loss, parenting difficulties, and adverse childhood experiences. I have also worked extensively with depression, anxiety, health-related issues, self-esteem and self-harm.

Who do I work with?
Individual adults 18+, trainee counsellors

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
