About me

Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed or just don't understand why you are not feeling "yourself" any more?

We all face challenges and difficult situations in our daily lives. Sometimes, these personal difficulties can make us feel alone and unable to manage our feelings. Left unresolved, we can feel helpless to unravel these distressing feelings and emotions on our own.

I can offer you a supportive, non-judgemental, safe space where, through counselling, we can explore whatever aspect of your life you may wish to better understand or change. By understanding why you feel anxious and overwhelmed, you can gradually increase your sense of well-being and be able to face those challenges that life throws at you.

Together, we will develop your coping skills to enable you to understand and change patterns of behaviour. By gaining control of your life, you will be able to resolve those difficulties and live a much happier and more fulfilling life.

My approach is integrative; by that, I mean that I use three approaches: person-centred, psychodynamic, and CBT to help you gain clarity and get you emotionally to the place you want to be.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 12 years of counselling experience in a variety of settings in many hospitals, charities, and schools, as well as my own private practice.

I have a lot of experience delivering online video counselling using tools such as Zoom.

I offer counselling for many issues such as low mood, anxiety, stress, depression, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, loss and bereavement, and personal development or life choices.

Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked as a midwife for 13 years. My combination of counselling and midwifery experience enables me to have a deep understanding of the emotional trauma that people can experience before, during, and after pregnancy and childbirth.

I have worked for the last 5 years as a counsellor for Petals, a baby loss bereavement charity, where I provide specialist counselling in all aspects of infertility, pregnancy and neonatal loss, and pregnancy related trauma.

I work with individuals for both short and long-term open-ended counselling.

Our sessions together will be conducted in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
