About me

Hi, my name is Sarah. I am a passionate and highly empathic Person-Centred counsellor, also trained in Rewind Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I have extensive experience working with individuals presenting with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, PTSD, traumatic bereavement, grief, loss, abuse, relationship issues and low self-esteem. I understand that counselling is not a one-size fits all approach and that every person and their experience is unique to them, therefore tailoring my approach to achieve the best outcome for each individual. Within our sessions I will always offer a safe, non-judgemental, trusting, respectful environment for you to share your presenting issues.

Being Trauma Informed, I understand the impact of Trauma and PTSD, and have specifically worked with adults and young people who have experienced ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and those who were affected by acts of terrorism throughout the world including the 2017 Manchester Arena attack.

I also worked with a number of adults during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic who were suddenly bereaved (traumatic bereavement).

I believe that every person has the power within to heal themselves and positively grow (post traumatic growth) from their experiences to live a fulfilling life; given the right environment and support to do so. I am here to help support and empower you to do just that.

If you are ready to take some small steps towards actively healing emotional wounds, removing internal barriers, and building your confidence to ultimately reach your personal goals and bring about positive change to your life, I would love to hear from you.

I am an individual member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethics and guidelines. I am also trained in Mental Health First Aid with MHFA England.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
