About me

I work online with Couples and Individuals and specialise in working alongside autistic people. I provide an accessible & compassionate service that reduces distress and enables people to address what is difficult in their lives. I have 20 years of experience counselling people of all ages in a range of different settings.

Couples and Individuals can expect to be compassionately supported to better understand and accept themselves. Our sessions will support you to be more connected with your own experience and to develop insight into what is challenging and how this can be addressed.

I am active and direct in my approach and so you will know where you are with me. I understand how difficult it can be to talk and especially to do so with someone unfamiliar. I do all I can to facilitate effective working relationships that are characterised by empathy and genuineness which will enable you to communicate on your own terms. The learning that takes place in our sessions will then support your relationships with the other people in your life.

Alongside my initial Counselling training I have completed a Post Grad Certificate in Autism with Dr Luke Beardon. I am also trained to work with couples and this training supports me to work with couples where one or both are autistic.

I take my personal power in therapeutic relationships seriously and operate within professional and ethical boundaries. My therapeutic practice is also informed and supported by my ongoing interest in Buddhist Philosophy/Psychology and Insight Meditation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
