About me

You may be feeling in crisis, confused, or stuck. Whatever is prompting you to consider therapy, it is an opportunity to really get to know yourself and rediscover inner resources which you may have lost contact with. We all unconsciously, and for good reason, develop ways to stay away from aspects of ourselves which confound or trouble us, but eventually they can become impossible to ignore. I can offer skilled and compassionate guidance as you turn towards them. This naturally fosters new understanding and a different relationship with yourself. Whatever your hope or goal, I have learned that what is in the way, is the way, and you don’t have to travel alone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, meaning I can adapt my practice to suit your particular needs. I have also trained in Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS). This is a psychospiritual model which works with the intelligence of our inner system; our wounds and protections, as well as our capacity for healing and change. It provides gentle, safe, and effective ways to attend to what is very tender in us, such as shame and trauma.

As well as working in private practice, I was a university counsellor for a number of years, and have also worked for Barnardo's, local charities, and in secondary school settings.

My aim is to provide the acceptance and compassion that you may be struggling to give to yourself. This can free you to be curious about aspects of yourself, which in turn allows surprising new perspectives to open up.

The poet Rumi summed up the therapeutic relationship; “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
