About me
As a trained and experienced Integrative therapist with over 16 years’ counselling experience, I aim to offer counselling that helps you to work through whatever challenges you are currently experiencing in life, and consider changes you may have been thinking about. Integrative therapy is an approach which acknowledges that individuals are unique, and that life experiences are different for everyone. When working together, I can draw upon different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs.
My counselling work at the University of Cambridge Counselling Service, in GP Surgeries and in Independent Practice has given me the opportunity to work with people from a wide range of ages and diverse backgrounds. I work with many individuals contemplating life changes, struggling with relationship or family issues, separation or divorce, low self-confidence or self-esteem, anxiety and depression. I also have considerable experience of working with grief and loss, through eight years of training and volunteering with Cruse Bereavement Care.
Following an earlier career in Recruitment Management where I regularly experienced individuals struggling with work-related stress and anxiety, I worked for the Richmond Fellowship, a mental health charity, providing employment support and advice to adults returning to the workplace following a period of depression, anxiety, stress or other mental health challenges. I understand how difficult it can feel to return to work, or consider career and work-life changes at any stage of life and this remains an area that I am passionate about.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Senior Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and initially started working as a counsellor in GP Surgeries in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire and in Independent Practice. I also worked as a counsellor at the University of Cambridge Counselling Service for over 10 years, providing counselling to undergraduate and post-graduate students.
My early training was in Adlerian Individual Psychology where encouragement and hope are at the core of the counselling relationship. I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor. This is an approach which acknowledges that individuals are unique, and that life experiences are different for everyone. As an Integrative therapist, I can draw on different approaches to meet your individual needs.
I am also a qualified and experienced Supervisor working with counsellors and trainee counsellors.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
