About me
Hello, I'm Ruth. I have worked professionally with children, young people and families for the past 15 years for a range or organisations and are passionate about supporting and empowering children and young people as a counsellor. I recognise and value the uniqueness of working with children and young people and the challenges they can face growing up.
I work in person from Market Harborough for ages 5 - 25. Before counselling begins an initial assessment is needed to ensure that I am the right counsellor for your child. Therapy is a personal relationship and ensuring your child or young person feels comfortable is important to the work we can do together. This assessment will also include sharing any issues you wish to explore further in counselling and expectations you may have.
Talking about feelings can sometimes be hard and I work in a range of creative ways which allows children and young people to explore their experiences and feelings in ways that feel safe for them. I work in an Integrative way that enables me to draw upon different skills and approaches to work therapeutically with each individual where they are at the centre of what we do..

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
