About me
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an umbrella term for various therapeutic approaches that explore how our thoughts and behaviours shape the way we feel. At its core, it’s about developing the tools and skills needed for greater psychological flexibility—helping you respond meaningfully to life’s challenges rather than react, resist or avoid.
Our sessions will start by exploring the key issues you’re facing and the changes you hope to achieve. While our focus will primarily be on the present, we will bridge to the past for any deeper-rooted problems. Each session will involve discussing your experiences, whether from the past week or a broader theme. My role is to stitch our discussions back to the focus - helping you gain insights, build skills, and move toward the direction that you want.
What things can I bring to therapy?
For some, the reason for seeking therapy is clear: perhaps you feel exhausted, irritable, or overly sensitive. Maybe persistent worries are overwhelming you, or a lingering low mood is making it hard to enjoy life. You might struggle to feel connected to others.
For others, the need for change feels less defined—a vague sense of dissatisfaction, a lack of meaning or purpose, or simply the feeling that something isn’t quite right. Therapy is a space to explore these feelings, gain clarity, and take meaningful steps toward a more fulfilling life.
Areas of expertise
I have several areas of expertise worth considering:
Inner Criticism & Self Doubt: Negative self-talk often stems from internalised judgments and unmet standards. It manifests as doubts, punitive thoughts, and a critical voice that erodes self-belief. Over time, this inner critic leads us to question our abilities and worth, creating a cycle of self-doubt. This self-doubt hinders self-compassion and becomes a barrier to personal growth and healthy relationships.
In therapy, I will help you understand your inner critic and challenge its usefulness. Together, we will cultivate a compassionate, balanced inner narrative that promotes growth through mindful, values-driven actions rather than reactive, self-defeating patterns.
Anxiety and Depression: Perhaps you’re finding your thoughts and emotions are overwhelming, worrying about too many different things, and unable to concentrate or find the space for calm. Or, perhaps your mood is low, stuck ruminating and feeling helpless and hopeless. You might feel a strong urge to escape the way you feel through excessive self-soothing, isolation, or avoidance.
Through therapy, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of these patterns and learn practical strategies to regain a sense of control and emotional freedom.
Disconnected socially or at work: Feeling disconnected can be isolating and painful. Emotionally, you may feel like an outsider, struggling to find a sense of belonging. At work, you might feel overlooked or disengaged, simply going through the motions. Socially, even in a crowd, you may feel lonely or disconnected.
Therapy offers an opportunity to explore and overcome these barriers, helping you foster meaningful connections and a renewed sense of belonging.
