About me

Hi, my name is Becky, I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a Master’s Degree in Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I pride myself on working within their ethical framework as well as completing regular continuous professional development and attending regular supervision.

I am an integrative counsellor and my way of working is predominately Person-Centered, with elements of Attachment theory, Gestalt and psychodynamic. This in turn allows me to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to allow them to feel at ease within the client-therapist relationship. Furthermore, the integrative way of working also allows me to adapt my practice based on the individual needs of the client and what they bring to each session. I aim to provide a space where clients can feel as though their story is heard and understood in a way that also allows them to explore and work through the difficulties that have brought them to therapy initially in a setting that is both safe and supportive.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in integrative Counselling and a BSc in Counselling and Mental Health from Leeds Beckett University.

I have experience working both long and short term. I have experience working with the following but not limited to; anxiety, depression, self-esteem, family and relationship difficulties, stress and bereavement as well as general counselling.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
