About me

Do you feel stuck or unable to move on from your past? Perhaps you notice patterns in your relationships or behaviour that feel impossible to change. Are you coping in ways that are no longer serving you?

Painful experiences can often lead to feeling lost and disconnected, which can impact on how we feel about ourselves, our relationships and the world around us. This can often mean that we cope in ways that might feel good in the moment but are harmful to us and others, like addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling, porn), avoidance, people pleasing, self sabotage and compulsive behaviour.

Shame or fear might be getting in the way of you asking for what you need, creating boundaries and telling people how you feel, which might lead to more stuckness. We all get stuck at times, that's very human! And we all need to feel seen, heard and understood.

I primarily work the impact of Trauma, helping to make the really hard stuff easier to sit with and holding a space to process memories, thoughts and feelings as well as finding new ways of coping. I'm all about being human and genuine, as well as safe and ethical. Trauma is going through very stressful, frightening or distressing events that overwhelm our mind and body; it's important to remember that we all handle traumatic experiences differently. I work holistically (a whole person approach) and integrate different ways of working depending on the individual. I offer a safe space for you to explore your past, get curious about why you cope in the ways you do and find new ways forward. I'm all about being human and genuine, as well as safe and ethical.

Through my own experience of therapy, I have been given the space to be heard, process past traumas, and find ways to unstick myself, which at times has been really hard. I know how transformative therapy can be - with a lot of hard work, frustration, tears and even laughter along the way. I offer support and encouragement in a compassionate and non-judgemental way. The process of therapy can lead to new perspectives and self-awareness, this can be both exciting and scary so it’s important that you feel listened to, respected and understood.

Getting Started:

It can take a lot of courage to ask for help so I will do what I can to help you to feel comfortable and answer any questions you have. Working together, we can explore where you are now and where you would like to get to.

My clients have often said that counselling helped them to untangle their thoughts and feelings so that they were able to live healthier and happier lives - I feel privileged to be a part of my client's lives in this way, witnessing times of darkness and light.

I offer a free no-obligation phone consultation, usually lasting around 15 minutes. This is an opportunity for me to get to know a little about you, and you can ask any questions you have so that we can decide if we'd like to work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
