About me

My name is Quitty D’Souza. I am based in East Croydon and offer short and long term counselling to individuals and groups across a broad range of issues both via face to face and online.

I have worked closely with a mental health organisation, working with clients dealing with mental health on both a one to one basis as well as with groups, on a variety of issues including loss or bereavement, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, childhood trauma and relationships including attachment and domestic violence. I also have vast experience dealing with how clients have beenaffected by Covid including depression and feelings of isolation.

I am also highly experienced working with cultural differences and diversity, as well as those with dementia and degenerative diseases, as well as supporting their carers suffering from exhaustion or struggling with managing their care.

I am trained as an integrative counsellor, which means I use a range of theoretical approaches to work in a flexible way. I am a member of the BACP and abide by their ethical codes and guidelines. All my work is clinically supervised.

What to expect

I appreciate that finding the right counsellor is daunting and it can often feel difficult to make that first phone call. However, once the first call has been made, a sense of relief from sharing difficulties will start you on your journey. My aim is to create a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment for you to discuss your needs and difficulties.

Every client is unique in their personality and needs, and that while one therapeutic approach may be very useful for one particular client, for another it may not be. We will discuss this in our initial session and regularly throughout our time together. I believe that you know yourself best, but it may not always feel that way. In our initial meeting I will ask you about your story which will help me decide what I consider to be the best approach to help you.

Please feel free to contact me by email to arrange an initial consultation in confidence when we can discuss your concerns and find out if and how we might work together. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
